Nearly 11 months after its last trailer, GTA 6 has no confirmed Trailer 3 date — with insider Tom Henderson predicting August and a viral fan theory pointing to May 26.
Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has committed to “marketing beats” this summer — the first concrete public signal on a third trailer that fans have been waiting nearly a year to see.
Rockstar Games has not released a new GTA 6 trailer since May 2025. With the game locked for a November 19, 2026 launch on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, the question of when Trailer 3 arrives — and what it will show — has split the gaming industry’s most credible voices into two distinct camps.

Two Credible Windows, Two Different Theories
During a February earnings call, Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick confirmed that Rockstar will begin its launch marketing for GTA 6 in Summer 2026, calling the announcement “a huge departure from what I usually say, which is that our labels will make marketing announcements.”
That statement produced two competing interpretations.
One camp, driven by community analysis on Reddit and social media, points to May 26, 2026 as the prime candidate — exactly 177 days before the November 19 launch date. Fans note the same 177-day gap separated Red Dead Redemption 2’s third trailer from that game’s release in 2018, and that May 26 was GTA 6’s originally leaked release date before the second delay.

The other camp belongs to a named insider. Tom Henderson, Editor-in-Chief of Insider Gaming, said on a recent podcast: “I don’t think we’re going to see anything on GTA 6 until the first week of August.”
Henderson expects Rockstar to shadow-drop the trailer a day before or the same day as Take-Two’s next earnings call, following the same pattern used when Trailer 2 appeared in May 2025, shortly before Take-Two briefed investors.
Henderson also said the game would not appear at Summer Game Fest or any third-party event, and that Rockstar would instead organize its own standalone promotional campaign.

What the Trailer Is Expected to Show
The first trailer, released in December 2023, introduced the game’s Vice City setting and its dual protagonists, Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos. Trailer 2, released in May 2025, focused on character dynamics and confirmed the Leonida open world. Neither showed combat, driving mechanics, mission structure, or real-time gameplay.
Industry analysts note that Trailer 3 will likely shift focus from atmosphere to substance, with short gameplay sequences expected to replace purely cinematic shots. The trailer may highlight mission structure, open-world interactions, and environmental systems to offer the first clear look at how the game plays moment to moment.
Insiders expect Trailer 3 to cover the game’s combat system, story components, and world development — areas deliberately left unaddressed in both previous trailers.
According to leaks cited by Beebom, GTA 6 will feature what is described as the most realistic water physics in gaming history, with Rockstar reportedly dedicating a team of 20 engineers exclusively to water modeling.
Separately, an unnamed source claims the single-player story will have an estimated runtime of 75 hours. Neither claim has been confirmed by Rockstar.
One area Trailer 3 is unlikely to address is GTA 6 Online. Take-Two has confirmed that the original GTA Online will remain active after GTA 6 launches, but the developer has not disclosed a single detail about the new multiplayer component.

The Gameplay Question
Whether Trailer 3 will include actual gameplay footage remains genuinely uncertain. Red Dead Redemption 2 did not show gameplay until its fourth trailer, which arrived three months before that game’s release.
That precedent suggests fans may need to wait longer than expected for in-game footage, regardless of when a third trailer appears.
Others noted the risk of unmanaged expectations, pointing out that Rockstar has no obligation to show gameplay in Trailer 3, and that what the studio chooses to reveal is determined entirely by internal readiness, not fan demand.
Take-Two’s next earnings conference call is expected in mid-May, and analysts expect it to carry significant GTA 6 updates — including potential pre-order details and possibly a trailer reveal — given that the game is now inside Rockstar’s active fiscal year for the first time.
If Henderson’s August timeline holds instead, the next confirmed information milestone remains that call regardless.
