The Dodo in GTA III was famously hard to fly because Rockstar clipped its wings after 9/11. Vice City in 2002 added the Skimmer seaplane (Cessna 152 with pontoons), the only flyable fixed-wing aircraft in that game. The "Dildo Dodo" mission had Tommy dropping promotional fliers while managing fuel consumption. GTA 6 planes fall into four categories based on their design and purpose.
Light Aircraft
Single-engine propeller planes for personal use. The Mammatus (Cessna 172) and Dodo lead this class. The Duster biplane handles crop dusting and banner towing. These planes spawn at small airfields and offer the easiest flight handling for beginners.
Private Jets
Business jets for fast travel across the map. The Shamal (Learjet 60) and Luxor (Citation Jet) offer speed and luxury. The Nimbus combines Gulfstream and Cessna Citation styling. These spawn at major airports and helipad hangars.
Military Aircraft
Armed jets and transport planes. The Hydra (Harrier) offers VTOL and missiles. The Titan (C-130) carries vehicles and cargo. These require accessing military bases or completing specific missions. High wanted levels bring military jets.
Seaplanes
Amphibious aircraft with water landing capability. The Skimmer and Dodo (seaplane variant) can land on water using pontoons. Vice City coastlines make seaplanes practical for reaching islands and escaping by water.

Takeoff Speed
Build speed on the runway before pulling up. Small planes need about 100 km/h, jets need more. Pulling up too early causes stalling. Let the plane lift naturally when ready.
Stall Recovery
When the plane stalls, push the nose down to regain airspeed. Do not pull up until speed recovers. High altitude gives more room to recover. Low stalls often end in crashes.
Landing Approach
Reduce throttle early and descend gradually. Line up with the runway from far out. Touch down at the start of the runway, not the middle. Apply brakes after wheels contact ground.
Avoid Restricted Airspace
Fort Zancudo and military bases have restricted airspace. Flying too close triggers wanted levels and SAM missiles. Stay low to avoid radar or fly around these zones entirely.
